Keep Up the Good Work – Joint Statement

We reiterate our congratulations to WHO Member States for finalising the text of the historic pandemic agreement and standing strong for a coordinated, global approach to pandemic preparedness, prevention, and response.

Member State adoption of the pandemic agreement and resolution at World Health Assembly 78 (WHA78) is an essential step to turn the promise of this agreement into reality. We encourage strong support for adopting the resolution and treaty by consensus during WHA78, to keep up momentum for widespread ratification and implementation.

Five years ago, the World Health Assembly was beset by the sudden tragedy of COVID-19. Today, we salute Member States for their commitment to equity, and hard work to advance a landmark agreement to help make COVID-19 the last pandemic of such consequence. Infectious diseases continue to challenge our collective health security. Constant investment and vigilance is essential to turn policy commitments into financed action and make our world safer for everyone. We look forward to celebrating the pandemic agreement’s adoption at the 78th World Health Assembly.
